Educational Computing

The following projects required me to develop my ability to analyze how technologies can support learning, and be able to evaluate how well suited they might be for a specific learning context.

Evaluation Instrument

The project required me to develop my ability to critically evaluate and analyze available digital educational technologies. I selected an online educational game geared toward students in elementary school called Reflex Math, and developed an evaluation instrument to analyze the teacher reporting tool of the online educational platform. Developing the tool required me to carefully analyze what different elements were necessary to evaluate if a digital tool was supportive for educators, and would provide them with the necessary information to better understand their students’ progression. It also required creating defined and meaningful criteria, such as a technical, data and pedagogy analysis when developing the evaluation instrument.

Mobile Learning

The project required research and study into how mobile technologies, such as smartphones and tablets, are used in a learning context. My focus while researching was specifically on how commuters utilize these mobile technologies in order to learn. By a review into current and past literature on the subject, I was able to better comprehend how the emerging and growing need to utilize mobile technologies for learning is becoming increasingly essential for commuters.
